Muscles need a proper balance of both calcium (catalyst for muscle contraction) and magnesium (catalyst for muscle relaxation) for proper function. Although magnesium sulfate (epsom salt) is often used to help relax muscles, magnesium chloride (used in this formulation) is more bioavailable than traditional epsom salts and can increase your magnesium blood levels through topical application.
Just to clear up any confusion, the terms magnesium oil, magnesium spray, and, magnesium oil spray, are all used interchangeably. While it’s not an oil at all, the magnesium is a crystalline mineral which must be emulsified in water for use. This emulsion gives it a milky, oily texture that can sometimes feel a little sticky or chalky. It’s not uncommon for a tingling or light burning sensation to be felt immediately after application.
